Walking

The Spey Valley offers numerous walking opportunities for all abilities, ranging from easy signposted strolls to multi-day long distance and mountain adventures. There are plenty of walks where a small amount of effort is rewarded with incredible views. Kingussie has some fantastic paths leading from the town with beautiful spots including Loch Gynack and Creag Bheag within easy reach. Further afield (but still within walking distance of Drumguish) lies the tranquil beauty of Glen Feshie with easier paths along the valley and more challenging options heading up to the surrounding summits. At the lower end of Glen Feshie are the waymarked paths around the Uath Lochans. Loch an Eilein is a popular circular walk in the Rothiemurchus pinewoods which extend up to Glenmore and Loch Morlich.

Biking

The Cairngorms National park is an incredible place for adventure on two wheels. Whether you’re into road cycling, exploring quiet gravel tracks, or challenging yourself on demanding singletrack it’s all here! Decisions, decisions! Go far? Or Gnar? Or both?

New for 2022, we have upgraded our facilities for cyclists in conjunction with DMBinS. We now provide dedicated e-bike charging points, a range of bike tools, and improved bike washing facilities.

Watersports

In warmer weather the Cairngorms National Park is a watersports paradise with lochs, rivers and even sandy beaches to explore. There are popular swimming spots at Loch Insh, Feshiebridge and at Loch Morlich where the UK’s highest sandy beach is to be found, 300m above sea level. Watersports equipment hire and tuition are available at both Loch Insh and Loch Morlich.

Wildlife

The ancient pine forests and Cairngorm mountains are a haven for an incredible range of plants and animals, with something to see all year round. From the vibrant fresh silver birch leaves in the spring, delicate summer harebells, the blazing glory of the autumn heather, and the warm ochres of early winter, the colours of the landscape are always changing. There are abundant birds to see, deer, hares, pine marten and even Scottish wildcats live here!
